Funeral services for Charles Purvis will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will follow in the Cushman Cemetery in Marksville. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Purvis, age 70 of Mansura, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at his residence.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Tollie and Annie Mae Suddath Coates; sister, Shirley Carter, Lucille Hardy and Hope Coates; and a great-grandson, Eli Grand Cooper.

   Survivors include four sons; Charles Purvis, Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Sulphur, Keith Cooper of Pennsylvania, Eugene Purvis and his wife Rhonda of Hessmer and Kenneth Cooper and his wife Shantelle of Bunkie; two daughters, Sherry Ducote and her husband Mark of Marksville and Chasity Purvis and her husband Theodore Abshire of Lake Charles; two brothers, Jimmie Coates and Tollie Coates, Jr.; 3 sisters, Carol Ann Rodrigues, Eunice Coates and Tannie Gayle Coates; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and his special friend, Nikki Moses of Poland.

Funeral services for Tammy Marie Ducote; age 54; of Marksville, will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday April10, 2014 in the chapel of Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Marksville. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2 in Marksville under the direction of Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Marksville. Mrs. Ducote passed away on Wednesday April 9, 2014 in Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville. Tammy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her mother Youvina Bonnette, her father Javis Gaspard and step-father Elton Bonnette. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years Franklin Ducote, Sr. of Marksville; one son Franklin Ducote, Jr. and wife Jessica of Pineville; one granddaughter Ivy Raelyn Ducote of Pineville; step-mother Patricia Gaspard of Dupont; three sisters Lisa Gaspard and Carson of Pineville, Sindy Gaspard Purifoy and Ben of Dayton, Texas. and Brittany Gaspard of Dupont; one brother Jarred Gaspard of Dupont; also a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.. Pallbearers will be Carson Bordelon, Shawn Gaspard, Ben Purifoy, Kenneth Bordelon, Gregory Guillot and Johnny Couvillion. A Mass of Christian Burial for Eli Cooper will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Chemino officiating. Funeral services for Velma M. Wells of Cottonport  will be held on Saturday, April 12,     2014 beginning at 11:00am at the Little Zion Baptist Church in Longbridge. Interment will be held at the Little Zion Church Cemetery Immediately following the service. Visitation will beheld on Saturday, April 12, 2014 beginning at 9am until the time of funeral in the church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escudé Funeral Home.

Velma M. Wells, age 72, died Sunday April 6,2014 at the Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hansen Wells, Jr.; parents, Veldon and Iris (Randall) Laurent  and a daughter, Gayle Wells..

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Pauline Jenkins of Cottonport; sisters, Geraldine Benjamin of Cottonport, Majesta Hagger of Mansura and Rachel Hall of Cottonport and her brother Lones Laurent of Cottonport. He is also survived by five grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren

LEBEAU- Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church in Lebeau for Kevin Butler. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Fr. John O’Hallaran, SSJ will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial.

Visiting hours will be observed from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lebeau.  A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m.
