Bunkie man charged with attempted murder of four including child and two teens

The Bunkie Police Department announces that it has arrested and charged a man with four counts of Attempted First Degree Murder.

According to the Bunkie Police Department the incident began at approximately 730 am on Tuesday March 20 when officers responded to a residence located ay 602 S Holly Street for a reported disturbance. Upon officers arrival they were allegedly informed that a male occupant of the home identified as Morris Dorsey was threatening bodily harm to others inside the residence.

At 930 am officers received a second call to the residence and was notified that the suspect was armed with a machete and pistol. The suspect reportedly fled from the area on foot before the officer’s arrival.

At about 830 pm the Bunkie Police Department received a frantic call from the residence explaining people were shot inside the home. Officers arrived at the residence and reportedly discovered four victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victims include a thirty eight year old female, eleven year old male, two additional female subjects ages nineteen and seventeen. The identities of the victims have not been released.

The victims were transported to the Hospital for emergency care. Detectives and officers processed the crime scene for hours and the following day announced that an arrest warrant was obtained for the arrest of Morris Dorsey age 45 of the same address charging the suspect with four counts of Attempted First Degree Murder. According to Detective Chad Jeansonne, assistance in locating the suspect was requested and received from the Louisiana State Police, Avoyelles Parish Sheriffs Department, and the U.S. Marshalls Office.

Afterwards, suspect Dorsey peacefully surrendered to the Bunkie Police Department and was placed under arrest. Afterwards, the suspect was booked into the Avoyelles Parish Jail. According to the police department the investigation is ongoing and additional criminal charges are pending. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
