BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Roy O. Martin III to the Board of Regents.



The Board of Regents is a state agency which coordinates all public higher education in Louisiana.



According to the Louisiana Constitution of 1974, the board is comprised of 16 members, including one student member, two gubernatorial appointees from each congressional district, and one at-large gubernatorial appointment. All appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.



Roy O. Martin III, of Alexandria, is the President and Chief Financial Officer for RoyOMartin, a family-owned, professionally managed forestry and wood-products manufacturing company.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and completed his Master of Business Administration at Louisiana State University. Martin will be appointed to serve as an at-large member, in accordance with the requirements of the Louisiana Constitution.

The RoyOMartin company is the largest landowner in Avoyelles Parish, founded by the family patriarch Roy O. Martin in 1923.

The company has a land base of 575,000 acres of prime southern pine and fine hardwoods throughout Louisiana, made up of tracts from 20 acres to over 10,000 acres in size.
