A delegation of 10 high school students and their supervisor came a long way to learn how Avoyelles Parish farmers have earned a reputation as some of most efficient in the nation.
It has been a rainy year so far, but all indications are there has been only minimal crop damage from the weather, Avoyelles Parish County Agent Justin Dufour said.

The painting activity along with a bounce house was a popular attraction for kids while parents visited local produce and arts & crafts vendors. There was a definite “bayou” theme to the Marksville Farmers Market on June 10. The event is held every Saturday in June, but each one has special attractions.
The 2017 Avoyelles Parish Livestock Show will be held this Friday and Saturday (Jan. 20 and 21) at the Avoyelles Parish Barn on Fair Street in Marksville.
