Avoyelles total COVID count tops 6,500; death toll climbs to 148

Today we will let the numbers speak for themselves in the Friday COVID update for Avoyelles Parish.
There were 577 tests in the Friday report with 87 new cases diagnosed, for a one-day positive rate of just over 15 percent. There were two additional COVID-related deaths.
Avoyelles pandemic totals as of Friday are 6,510 overall -- 4,996 "confirmed" by lab tests and 1,514 deemed "probable" for the virus by rapid result tests. There have been 148 Avoyelleans to die from COVID complications -- 136 were diagnosed with lab tests and 12 by rapid result tests.
Statewide the virus has infected 696,900 individuals and killed 12,707.
