Avoyelles Friday COVID report: 142 tests, 24 cases, 1 death
Some may recall a comment during the early spike of COVID-19 that "if we stop testing, the number of COVID cases will stop rising."

It has been two weeks since Christmas Eve. There were those who predicted a spike in cases within 10-14 days of the holidays. Others pooh-poohed such talk as media-driven panic.
Avoyelles had considerably fewer test results in its Wednesday COVID update from the state health department, but had a high positive rate among those results.
The problem with a "no show" Monday is the "catch up" Tuesday. The result of yesterday's 17 tests and two new cases for Avoyelles Parish was a record-setting 889 test results with 88 new cases.
As has been the recent trend, Monday had very little change in Avoyelles Parish's COVID numbers.
