Another Avoyelles Parish resident has died from COVID-19, the state Department of Public Health reported in its noon update today (July 17). This brings the number of deaths to 18.
In its noon Thursday update, the Louisiana Department of Health reported Avoyelles' COVID-19 infections increased by 16 overnight, to 565. The death toll remained at 17.
Avoyelles set a new one-day record for new coronavirus cases in the state's mid-day update Wednesday (July 15), with 37 new cases raising the parish's total to 549.
As of today (July 14) there have been 512 positive test results for COVID-19 in Avoyelles Parish. Most of those have been reported since May.
There was another double-digit increase in Avoyelles Parish's coronavirus numbers, jumping by 23 to cross the 500-case mark. The overnight increase brought the parish's total from 489 to 512.
