Avoyelles S.O. arrests Livingston Parish suspect in Mansura

Charged with accessory to murder/dismemberment near Denham Springs

A fugitive wanted in connection with a murder in Livingston Parish was arrested by Avoyelles Parish officers Monday afternoon in Mansura.

Tony Duane Kile Jr., 28, of Denham Springs, was wanted on multiple fugitive warrants in connection with the murder and dismemberment of a still-unidentified man whose body was found in a wooded area near Denham Springs Sunday evening.

APSO’s Criminal Investigation Unit was contacted by Livingston Parish authorities and told of Kile’s possible location. Deputies found Kile at a location in Mansura, where he was arrested around 3 p.m. without incident.

He was booked into Detention Center #1 on Livingston Parish charges of felony obstruction of justice, accessory after the fact to 2nd degree murder, theft of a motor vehicle and being a fugitive from justice. He will be transported to Livingston Parish to face charges.

Kile is one of eight suspects wanted in connection with the Livingston Parish murder. Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said more arrests are possible.

Although identification has not been confirmed, Ard said the remains are believed to be those of Michael Neufeld, 26, of Gonzales, who has been reported missing since July 9.

Investigators are searching for Neufeld’s red Jeep Wrangler, Louisiana license plate ZWZ515.

Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office issued the missing persons advisory on July 9. Neufeld was last seen driving the Jeep on July 2.

An official identification will not be made until the identity is confirmed by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office.

CHARGED WITH MURDER

Duane Bissell, 27, of Amite and Martin Morgan, 31, of Zachary, have been charged with 2nd degree murder. They are also charged with numerous other offenses, some apparently related to the murder/dismemberment, some drug-related and other crimes apparently unrelated to the murder.

In a press release, Ard said the case is “very bizarre. The body discovered was actually dismembered. I can confirm the victim is male.”

Ard said the State Police Crime Lab is handling evidence from the scene.

He said preliminary investigation indicates the murder occurred in early July. Investigators are interviewing potential witnesses that could provide more information.

He said there appears to have been “a gathering” at the house near where the dismembered body was discovered.

“Something happened,” Ard said in the release. “We’re still trying to figure out exactly what took place. This investigation is ongoing.”

Ard said his office will be working with other law enforcement agencies on the case.

The others arrested included Robert Taylor, 46, the owner of the house suspected of being the gathering place; William Byars, 37, of Denham Springs; Ashton Hanchey, 28, of Zachary; Cheyenne Smith, 18, of Zachary; and Nancy Logarbo, 26, of Gonzales.

Anyone with information about this case should call the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office at 225-686-2241 x1 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP (7867).
