Bobby Corner arrested for malfeasance

Former Bunkie police chief faces four charges

Former Bunkie Police Chief Bobby Corner has been arrested by State Police earlier today on charges of tampering with a surveillance system, injuring public records, malfeasance in office and malfeasance in office by tampering with evidence.

He was released from Avoyelles Parish Detention Center #1 in Marksville on $40,000 bond.

In July 2018, State Police received a criminal complaint regarding alleged misconduct in office by Corner, 48, and former BPD dispatcher Nicholas Desselle, 26. Based on the results of that investigation, Corner is alleged to have allowed multiple pieces of evidence to be unsecured, misplaced and lost in the Bunkie Police Department’s building. He also failed to introduce certain items into the evidence room, mishandled a felony case file, failed to process traffic citations, tampered with the Bunkie Police Department’s surveillance system and shredded official department files.

The investigation also revealed that Desselle disabled the surveillance camera in the Bunkie Police Department’s maintenance building on multiple occasions.

Desselle was arrested Wednesday and released on $10,000 bond. He was charged with tampering with surveillance systems.
