Marksville man charged with possession of child sex abuse materials

A three-month investigation by state, federal and local law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of a Marksville man this Tuesday (July 20).

The State Police Special Victims Unit in Alexandria began investigating Robin M. Kimball, 46, of Marksville in April after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children concerning images being shared over the internet. Kimball is a convicted and registered sex offender.

The SVU was assisted by Troop E, State Police Technical Support Unit, the state Attorney General's Office, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force in Alexandria and the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office. After securing a search warrant, officers searched a Marksville home and found hundreds of images related to sexual abuse of children.

Kimball was arrested and booked into Avoyelles Detention Center #1 on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender and possession of pornography involving juveniles. No bond had been set as of Wednesday.

The State Police SVU investigates crimes involving exploitation of children and human trafficking, either for sex or labor. A spokesman said the public is an important partner in the effort to rescue and seek justice for these crimes. The SVU asks that anyone with information that could help identify a suspect or with information concerning criminal or suspicious activity should report it to the State Police. Information can be submitted anonymously online at the http://la-safe.org/ website by clicking the "Suspicious Activity" link.
