Open Hands to hold festive event in Mansura this Saturday

The Open Hands: Sharing God’s Love organization will hold its fourth annual fundraiser at the Mansura Walking Track from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (April 7).

The day is free and open to the public.

Booths will be set up selling BBQ chicken and pork, jambalaya, fried catfish and cracklins and a variety of homemade cakes and snow cones.

Music will be provided by Terry’s D.J. Service. Planned activities include a petting zoo and train ride. The Mansura Fire Department will also be holding fire training exercises.

A live auction and raffle will be held with items donated from local businesses including a cypress table and swings.

All proceeds from the raffle and auction will benefit Open Hands.

Event coordinator, James Guillot of Bordelonville said proceeds from the family- friendly event provide financial assistance to Avoyelles Parish individuals who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in need.

“Open Hands” receives applications, determines legitimacy and gives assistance to those in need.
