Alleged beating death in Brouillette leads to arrest

According to Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office officials, Bruce Lachney age 60 has been arrested and is expected to be charged with second degree murder.

The alleged beating death occurred in the Brouillette community.

The incident was reported to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office about 4:30 pm Sunday afternoon, January 27, when a call came in about two men fighting in Brouillette, on Highway 452.

Deputies found the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

APSO said the cause of death appears to be blunt force trauma. An autopsy is still pending.

The victim's identity is not being released at this time.

Deputies found the suspect in a field behind the building after a witness told deputies they saw Lachney cross the road and enter an abandoned house.

After a short pursuit Lachney was arrested.
