Avoyelles Parish walk-off escapee recaptured

The Avoyelles Parish inmate who walked away from his transitional work program job in Bunkie on this past Saturday (Feb. 9) turned himself in to St. Landry officials Monday afternoon.
The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office said Wayne Deon Kerry, 25, of Melville has been returned to Avoyelles Parish to face charges of simple escape.
Kerry was serving time for probation/parole violations and burglary of an inhabited dwelling at the time of his walk-off escape. He was scheduled to be released in August. He walked away from his outside job at a Bunkie business early Saturday morning and was reported missing by supervisory staff.
