Cochon de Lait town decorating approved by Mansura Council

The Mansura Council unanimously approved to kick-off the Cochon De Lait “mini-fest” spirit early. Meyhan Chenevert, Mansura Chamber president, addressed the mayor and council during the April meeting to ask approval for the Chamber to begin painting the pigs on the sidewalks in celebration of the upcoming festivities.
“We are getting back to the original feel of our festival with the mini-fest,” she said. “We want to honor the spirit of the 1970’s and 80’s with a day of family fun.”
Town employees will begin painting small pigs and touching up other festival related items on display in preparation for the one-day festival to be held May 14.
In other business, the council approved paying an additional $2,000 as a one-time premium to reward those at-risk employees who worked full-time during the 2020 pandemic. Thirteen employees received compensation including nine town employees and four police officers.
-The council voted to install and maintain round yellow and black signs for four approaches to the two KCS railroad crossings at St. Jean and Regard streets.
-Mayor Kenneth Pickett informed the aldermen those wishing to use the baseball field for practice must call the Town Hall from Monday through Friday during regular business hours to be placed on the schedule.
