Hessmer man arrested for "possible cyberstalking" in Rapides Parish

A Hessmer man who allegedly stalked and posted photos of a victim to social media now faces charges.
A report was made to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office on June 15 about harassment and "possible cyberstalking," reads a release. Deputies spoke to the victim, who claimed 30-year-old Kirk Paul Dauzat was the person responsible for the stalking.
The release does not state the victim's gender.
"The victim went on to say Dauzat had allegedly posted photos of the victim on social media and tagged several people and the victim's place of employment in the posts," it reads.
Kolin substation detectives began an investigation, finding evidence to support the victim's allegations. Warrants were issued, and Dauzat turned himself in on Tuesday (June 26).
He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on charges of stalking and non-consensual disclosure of private images.
Dauzat, of the 1100 block of La. Highway 114, later was released on a $3,000 bond.
The case prompted Rapides Sheriff William Earl Hilton to remind people they must make good decisions when it comes to social media.
“We want to caution the public, adults and especially juveniles, when certain photographs are taken, there is no telling where they may end up or where you may see them again," read his statement. "Think before you take that photo.”
