Hessmer suspect kills self

The Hessmer man sought in connection with a homicide in Natchitoches Parish is dead.
Michael Paul Medina, 49, of the 500 block of Babineaux Road in Hessmer, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday in Avoyelles Parish, according to a news release from Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones.
A search had been underway for Medina since Natchitoches Parish sheriff’s Deputies found the body of 53-year-old Vicky M. Sanders in a home shortly before noon in the 200 block of Patrick Road in Point Place south of Natchitoches.
