Marksville, Bunkie voters go to polls Saturday

Voters in Marksville and Bunkie will go to the polls this Saturday (March 24) to decide a handful of contests that drew more than one candidate.

Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

There are two elections in Bunkie -- one for police chief and the other for District 2 alderman. There are elections for Marksville Council District 3 and Marksville District 5.

The candidates for Bunkie police chief are incumbent Bobby Corner, Scotty Ferguson, Zachariah Guice and Phillip Tagliarino.

In Bunkie District 2 incumbent Lem Thomas, Lucins Eggins Jr. and Leslie Matthews are on the ballot.

In Marksville District 3 incumbent Mary Sampson is being challenged by Steven Menard Jr. and District 5 incumbent Clyde “Danny” Benson faces former council member Daniel DeCuir.

Marksville officials elected without opposition were Mayor John Lemoine, and City Council members Frank Havard, Mike Gremillion and Edward Conway.

In Bunkie, Bruce Coulon was elected mayor after Jonathan Washington was disqualified. Greg Prudhomme, Brenda Sampson, Travis Armand and Bill Longoria were elected to the Bunkie Council without opposition.
