SaveCenla hosting 'ASIST' workshop in Hessmer, June 28-29

SaveCenla will be conducting a two-day suicide prevention training course this Thursday and Friday (June 28-29) at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Hessmer.

Registration cost is $55.

Instruction will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop in “suicide first-aid.” Participants are taught how to recognize those at risk of suicide and how to work with those people to create a plan that secures their immediate safety.

ASIST is used by health care professionals, but does not require any previous formal training to attend. The course is beneficial to anyone.
