The Monday COVID update for Avoyelles Parish almost didn't exist. There were no additional test results since the Sunday update.
After more than three weeks with no additional COVID-related deaths, Avoyelles Parish has had three in four days.
The Bunkie Panthers won their Homecoming game against in-parish and District 3-AA rival Avoyelles Mustangs, 30-14, on Friday (Nov. 6).
In a year marred by a pandemic that kept many students out of class for two months, the ACT scores for 2019-2020 fell slightly statewide and more significantly in Avoyelles Parish.

It now looks like Louisiana and Texas can breathe a little easier as Hurricane Eta -- now a tropical storm approaching Cuba -- is no longer expected to head west next week.
