Marksville man arrested on multiple drug charges

Subject of 7-month investigation by city police

The subject of a seven-month narcotics investigation was arrested July 23 at a traffic stop in Marksville.

Daniel Coleman Jr., 32, of Marksville was arrested by Marksville City Police officers without incident and charged with distribution of heroin and methamphetamines.

Officers obtained a search warrant for a storage lockerrented in Coleman’s name. That search uncovered 1.5 ounces of suspected heroin, one pound of a substance believed to be high-grade marijuana, 250 pills believed to be Ecstasy, one pound of what is believed to be a synthetic cannabinoid used for spraying marijuana and a substance suspected to be “Mojo,” which is used to intensify the high users get when smoking synthetic marijuana.

The search also yielded numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

The estimated street value of the suspected narcotics is $51,000.

In addition to being charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, marijuana, Shedule I and Schedule II drugs, Coleman was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, illegally carrying a weapon and a contempt citation for failure to appear in court for a previous offense.

Coleman is awaiting bond in the Avoyelles Parish Dentention Center #1.
