Abe Mattox, Marksville

PSALMS 139: 15-16
“You were there while I was being formed in utter seclusion! You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your Book!”

A Real American! The One and Only, Abe Mattox of Spring Bayou Island, Marksville LA, took his journey home with God on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.
Abe was the Proprietor of Mattox Welding for over 60 years, Iron Artist of Rock Solid Iron Works, and Pipeline Welder all over the USA. He was also known as the “Wheel Doctor” repairing aluminum wheels, never failing to astound his customers. Abe was one of the original founding members of Spring Bayou Restoration Team and served as the First Vice President for nearly 10 years. He was a tremendous asset to this Organization. He would shout, “God Bless America!” as he rode his 1951 8N Ford Tractor (“Sweetie”) through town and festivals. Abe was bold, brave, brilliant, and to top it all, an honest solid good man. His loving heart and endless protection to defend all animals was enormous.
Paradise!!!, As he referred to his home on Spring Bayou Island, was his absolute most favorite place he ever lived. To those of you who knew him I don’t have to say anymore! To those who didn’t, you missed a hell of a man!
Those left to cherish his memory is his Sugar Plum of 24 years, Terri Flint; all of his beautiful little beating hearts, his dogs; children, Christy (Joey) McClellan of Mize, MS., Little Abe (Velvet) Mattox, Jr. of Bay Springs, MS., and Thomas Harvey (Heather) Mattox of Hattisburg, MS.; sister, Martha Mattox Stuart of Livingston, AL; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; a special close friend, Gretchen “Birddock” Flint; and all of his very close friends and families on Spring Bayou Island.
