Charles “Norris” Laborde, Sr.
Hessmer – A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Charles “Norris” Laborde, Sr. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Hessmer on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Father Edwin Rodriguez, celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Marksville.
The Laborde Family has requested a visitation to be held at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Marksville on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Charles “Norris” Laborde, Sr., age 80 of Hessmer, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, August 01, 2018 at 5:20 a.m. Mr. Laborde proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was a Senior Ship Boilerman aboard the ship of the U.S.S. Nicholas. During his early years, he operated a street car in New Orleans taking the Canal Street and St. Charles Street routes. Charles was an avid duck hunter in the Lake Pearl Hunting Club. After his retirement, he was a talented wood worker and specialized in making the “coonass microwave”. Charles enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be sadly missed.
Mr. Laborde was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Gauthier Laborde; son, Craig Laborde; parents, Paulin and Agnes Roy Laborde; and 16 brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 13 years, Virginia Dupree Laborde of Hessmer; children, Charles (Vickie Ann) Laborde of Hessmer and Terry Ann (Jim) Lambert of Hessmer; step-daughters, Vallerie (Doyle) Faucheux of Manchac and Andrea (Anthony) McCarter of Luling; grandchildren, Lane (Allie) Laborde of Marksville, Jade (Alayna) Lambert of Moreauville and Beau (Shelby) Lambert of Bunkie; step-grandsons, Matthew McCarter of Luling and Jesse McCarter of Luling; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Charles Laborde, Jr., Lane Laborde, Beau Lambert, Jim Lambert, Matthew McCarter and Anthony McCarter. Honorary pallbearers are Fred Mayeaux, Nathan Jeansonne and Jesse McCarter.
