Freddie Tassin, 80 of Bunkie

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Freddie Joseph Tassin on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Rev. Stephen Scott Chemino, V.G. officiating. Entombment will follow in Pythian Cemetery under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home.
The family requests visitation be observed at Melancon Funeral Home on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 8 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.
Mr. Tassin, age 80, of Bunkie, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. He was the owner of Bunkie Shell Service for over fifty years. It was always important to him to take care of the local citizens, often going above and beyond to help people in need. He gave his all every day and always with a smile. He was proud to live in Bunkie and Avoyelles Parish and was one of its biggest advocates in the business community.
He was an avid gardener growing his own produce every year in his back yard garden. He spent many years hunting and fishing which he immensely enjoyed. He raised doves, love birds and homing pigeons for many years in an aviary he built at home. He also enjoyed collecting coins. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. His great love was spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen J. and Maggie May Tassin; his sons, Shane Anthony Tassin and Ross Allen Bordelon; his brother, Gerald Tassin and his sister, Linda Rose Tassin.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Janice Bordelon Tassin of Bunkie; two daughters, Debra Tassin Lemoine and husband, Sidney, III, of Bunkie and Chantell Elizabeth Tassin and friend, Mitch Mouton, of Sunset; two sons, Lynn Arthur Tassin and friend, Linford Schatz, of Vancouver, B.C. and Logan Ross Tassin of Bunkie; his sister, Dianne Tassin House of Coffeeville, AL; four grandchildren, Jenny Lemoine Hodges, Aaron Michael Lemoine, Justin Paul Tassin and Taylor Lee Tassin and two great grandchildren, Sydney Hodges and Braden Hodges.
