Mr. Blalock, age 75, of Bunkie, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. Curtis was born and raised in Morrow, Louisiana. He moved to Bunkie after he married. He joined the U.S. Army when he was twenty-one years old. While serving his country proudly in Vietnam, he was wounded twice. He received two purple hearts for his injuries, as well as the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star. He was given an Honorable Discharge in 1972.
After leaving the military, he chose the trade of electrician. He would joke and say most of my brothers are carpenters, but I don’t have enough thumbs for that. He joined the IBEW Local 576 and continued as an electrician until he retired. After his retirement, he enjoyed the slower pace of life with his loving wife, Toni, of 48 years. They raised six children and they were able to appreciate the quiet time together. His favorite pastime was visiting on his porch with his children and grandchildren. They all loved to hear his “Dad/PawPaw” stories.
He was an avid hunter of deer and squirrel and tried really hard to be an avid fisherman. Sundays were filled with Church, NASCAR and Sunday family suppers. Curtis will be missed by anyone who knew him. He spoke his mind, gave great advice and had a heart of gold. He was preceded in death by his wife, Antoinette "Toni" Blalock; his parents, Johnnie and Elsie Meadows Blalock; his two sisters, Jean Blalock Kojis and Bernadine Blalock Toups and his three brothers, Johnny Blalock, Leon Blalock and Leo Blalock.
He is survived by his three daughters, Leisha Lindsey of Bunkie, Marlene Hernandez and husband, Greg, of Bunkie, and Belinda Vogel and husband, Chris, of Bunkie; his three sons, Lonny Lindsey and wife, Rose, of Bunkie, Tony Linsey and wife, Rita, of Arnaudville and Gilbrt Blalock, II of Forest Hill; two brothers, Richard Blalock and wife, Alice, of Zachary and Dale Blalock of Zachary; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
