Irma Bonnette, 84, Marksville

A mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Irma Gaspard Bonnette will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Marksville with Fr. Dan O’Connor officiating. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery #2 Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.

Mrs. Bonnette, age 84, of Marksville passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her son, Craig Bonnette; parents, Curmine Gaspard, Ellen Deshautelle Gaspard McCann; brother-in-law, James “T-Jim” Moreau.

Irma was a beloved person to all of her family and friends. She was beautiful both inside and out, and always conducted herself as a true lady. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all of her heart, and strived to be devoted to her catholic faith by praying her Rosay daily. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville, and enjoyed attending Mass weekly.

In her early years, Mrs. Bonnette was a homemaker, and raised her children to be faithful to the Lord, strong, and always kind to others. Later, she went to work for the local food stamp office in Marksville, and then retired from the Registrar of Voters office in Avoyelles Parish.

She will always be remembered for her love, kindness, and sacrifice shown to her family and friends. Her actions of putting everyone’s needs before her own will never be forgotten.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jodie Bonnette LeBlanc (Brian) of Batchelor, La; sister, Kinta Gaspard Moreau of Cottonport, La; beloved friend, Lamar Marcotte and his son, Greg Marcotte of Mansura, La. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers will be Jacques Moreau, William Moreau, Damian Jarreau, Glenn Dauzat, Brent Deshautelle, and Scott Balius.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary officiated by Deacon Gary Schupbach at 10:00 a.m.
