James Gaspard Sr, 77, Bordelonville

James "Punkin" Gaspard, Sr., age 77, passed away at his home in Bordelonville surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, August 14th, 2021. He followed in the footsteps of his father as a commercial fisherman for greater than 60 years. His favorite past-time was fishing on his pier with his grandchildren, spending countless hours in his shed, and spending time with those closest to him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sue Gaspard of Bordelonville; children, Brandi Lemoine (Wayland), James Gaspard, Jr. (Jennifer), Jamie Gaspard, Dereck Gaspard (Rachel), all of Bordelonville, Sam Marie Sweeney, Lynwood Gaspard, both of Shreveport, and Tabitha Quick of Houston, MS; brother, Willard “Peanut” Gaspard. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his favorite cousin, Bobby and Carmen Matherne.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: James Gaspard, Jr., Dereck Gaspard, Wayland Lemoine, Randall Bordelon, Ronnie Bordelon, and “Peanut” Gaspard. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Lemoine and Ian Rico.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Rosella Bordelon Gaspard, and his brothers, Harvey Gaspard and Joseph “D.C.” Gaspard.
