Jimmie Leger, Jr., entered this world December 28, 1965, and departed this life at age 55 on March 16, 2021. He was born in Marksville, LA, and graduated from Marksville High School in 1984. He then attended and completed welding school in Alexandria. He proudly maintained lifelong friendships with many of his childhood friends.
Jimmie was always a hard worker and his earliest job was moving houses with his father. Wanting to utilize his vocational training, he moved to Metairie where he worked offshore, did drafting for Jefferson Parish, and worked for Avondale Shipyard. He got his Certified Welding Inspector certification and worked for various pipeline companies in the northeastern states where he was well respected for his organizational skills and attention to details.
Throughout those same years, he became a skilled carpenter and a "shade tree" mechanic as he tinkered with his old truck. Once he set his mind to something, he became laser-focused and meticulous to the task at hand. This was evident with the remodeling of his home in Metairie, the family camp, and his fishing camp in Spring Bayou.
He was not just skilled with his hands, but also his feet! Jimmie became a trained ballroom dancer, taught at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio, and was a member of the "I'm A Dancer" Dance Club that performed clogging routines for many New Orleans events. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, playing guitar, and spending time with his Spring Bayou family. His ultimate goal was to retire and return home to Marksville where he could enjoy his camp in Spring Bayou.
Jimmie’s kind and helpful personality was a blessing to all who knew him. May he rest in heavenly peace.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents René and Theresa Leger; his maternal grandparents, Saturnan “Neen” Venable and Agnes Venable Hukins; his parents, Jimmie Leger, Sr. and Jeanette Leger Gibbons. Those left to cherish his memory include his longtime girlfriend, Janice Todesco and her loving children and grandchildren; three sisters, Laura Leger Guilbeau of Marksville, Marcey Leger (Deanna) of Baton Rouge, and Sharon Leger (Sandra) of Lafayette; two aunts, Lee Audrey Leger Shockley of Lafayette, Milda Venable Drouin (Richard) of Mansura; one nephew, Lance St. Romain (Brittani) of Marksville, and a great nephew (Drake) and great niece (AnnaBelle) St. Romain.
