Kermit Bowman, age 77, of Lecompte

LECOMPTE - Memorial services for Mr. Kermit Bowman will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Lecompte. A Celebration of Life will be held in the church fellowship hall directly after the service until 8 p.m.
  Kermit Bowman, age 77, of Lecompte, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 18, 2018 in his residence. Born on May 15, 1940, Kermit was a 1958 graduate of Lecompte High School and earned a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern State University in 1962. Kermit was a member of the IBEW 576 for 52 years and also served as their Business Administrator for several years. During Kermit’s career as a Journeyman Electrician, he was able to travel throughout the United States making many friends along the way. In 2006, Kermit was elected Justice of the Peace, Ward 3, in Rapides Parish, where he has held office until his recent passing. Kermit was a die-hard LSU fan, an avid fisherman and hunter and loved to read old westerns. Most important to Kermit’s heart was his family. He was the pillar of his family and will be deeply missed. 1 John 4:19 “We love him, because he first loved us.”
  Mr. Bowman is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ira Bowman and his sister, Nelda Roberts.
  Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his wife of 27 years, Wanda Bowman of Lecompte; his daughters, Laura Mathews of Hessmer, Karen (David) Hubley of Alexandria;  his sons, Bill (Leslie) Bowman of Dry Prong, Britt (Rebecca) Bowman of Pineville; his step-daughters, Renee Bennett of Los Angeles, California, Sheri Bennett of Lecompte, Kodua Michelle (Jeff) Galieti of Oregon, Andrea (A.J.) Babin of Kansas; his sisters, Anease (Windell) Wood of Houston, Texas, Geraldine (James) Turner of Evergreen; his brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Roberts of Marksville; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren; his beloved pets, Stormie and Marley.
  The Bowman family would like to offer thanks to the local IBEW 576 for the many years of dedicated friendship.
