Klis Normand Vielee

Klis Normand Vielee (1920 - 2019)

Klis Normand Vielee, 98, of Chatawa, MS, passed away on January 24, 2019 at the Colonial Care Center in Baton Rouge, LA., surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be Monday, January 28, 2019 from 10 AM until 12:30 PM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb with services to be held on Monday at 1 PM at St. Theresa's Catholic Church (St. Mary of the Pines). Fr. Suresh will officiate and burial will be in the Chatawa Cemetery.

Klis was born on December 25, 1920, the daughter of the late, Forrest and Oneida Normand. She was raised in her native town of Marksville, LA., where she spoke fluent Creole French but was forced to learn English while attending school. She moved to Chataw, MS, with her family in 1958.

She became active at St. Mary's participating in craft clubs and winning numerous ribbons at the craft fairs. She was a full time homemaker and a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church and an associate of School Sisters of Notre Dame. She loved and enjoyed many hobbies such as her yard, gardening, crocheting where she also crocheted for all the children and grandchildren. She was also very proud of her blueberries and huckleberry plants. She enjoyed craft clubs with the sisters of Notre Dame, collecting various old bottles and Avon bottles.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bernard Joseph Vielee, four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by three sons, Bernard J. Vielee, Klis James Vielee (Anna) and Louis B. Vielee (Susan); two daughters, Joyce Fortenberry and Anita Sides (Don); fifty five grandchildren, forty three great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Joey Fortenberry, Charles Sides, Danny Vielee, Jim Fortenberry, Rawls Sides, Jimmy Eugene Vielee, Jack Fortenberry, Chris Vielee and Jeffrey Vielee. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Vicknair, Jason Bangs and Jason Allen.
