HESSMER - Funeral services for Laurel Annette Shand will take place on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura, beginning at 7 p.m. with Father Derek Ducote officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday.
Laurel Shand, age 61, passed away at her home in Hessmer on Monday, April 2, 2018. Laurel worked as a case manager for the State of Louisiana for 15 years. She loved helping people in any way she could and always kept a kind heart. She loved her two grandchildren more than anything, and was also a huge animal lover. She will be missed deeply.
She was proceeded in death by her 1st husband and best friend, Stephen G. Shand; parents, Clyde and Phyllis Brady Jr.; sisters, Sandra Roberts and Patricia Leistman.
She is survived by her children, Kristina Shand (Shawn) Gagnard of Hessmer and Michael Shand of Hessmer; sisters, Barbara Mathews of Elmer, Anita (Ottis) Dupreast of Pineville; brother, Rodrick (Earline) Brady of Leitchfield, Kentucky; close loving friend, Ed Gremillion of Bay Hills; grandchildren, Sophie Gagnard and Caleb Gagnard of Hessmer; and 31 nieces and nephews.
