Greg, age 54, of the Bunkie/Hessmer area, was born in New Orleans on July 19, 1963 and died in a traffic accident in Vernon Parish on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. He attended Bunkie High School and was a professional short-haul truck driver. Greg didn't have many hobbies, but he loved to work on his big trucks and Ford pickup. He was always tinkering in his shed and took pride in being able to fix machinery for family and friends. A tireless worker, Greg loved his work as a truck driver, the only job he ever had. Many of his fellow drivers were like brothers to him.
He rejoiced in his grandchildren and spoiled them whenever possible. They, and his children, meant the world to him. But the love of his life was his wife, Joan. He would do anything to make her happy! He loved getting together with family members at his sister Tammy's home to watch and yell at their Saints. He had great fun teasing his sisters, nieces and nephews. He loved watching any truck show, NCIS and old comedies. And, of course, "Smokey and the Bandit". Joan could always tell when the Polyester Power Hour was playing during Greg's phone calls - the radio was turned waay up!!
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Patsy LaBorde Watts; his step-father, David Watts; his grandparents, Nolia and Patterson Lemoine; and hephew, Kenneth "Kenny" Walls.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Joan Walls LaBorde of Bunkie; his daughter, Lauren and her fiance', Chad Cunningham, of Lafayette and their daughter, Cecilia Ann; his son, Matthew LaBorde and fiancee', Tiffany Humphries of Hessmer and their children, Amanda and Aiden; his father, Otis LaBorde of Echo; his sisters, Staphanie Watts of Hessmer, Tammie LaBorde (Paul) Lemoine and their daughter, Samantha, and Amy Watts of Lafayette; his brother, Jessie (Rachel) LaBorde and daughters, Olivia and Mariah; his in-laws, Linton and Betty Walls of Hessmer; sister-in-law, Mary Beth McDonald and husband, Dan, of Youngsville; brother-in-law, Steven Walls of Baton Rouge; brother-in-law, John (Christine) Walls of Hessmer; niece, Kristi McDonald Rose and family of Aubrey, Texas; nephews, Dillon Walls of Baton Rouge and Harrison Walls of Baton Rouge; aunt and uncle, Sheila and Peter Lemoine; and aunt, Jeanette Lacombe.
