Lonest Arbric James, Sr

Funeral services for Lonest Arbric James, Sr. of Mansura, fondly known as “La La”, “Love”, and “Cheeky Black”, will take place at the First Congregational Baptist Church of Marksville on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 beginning at 10:00am. Burial will take place at a later date.

Mr. Lonest James, Sr., age 76, passed away at his home in Mansura on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vida Steptore James; three sons, Lonest A. James, Jr. (Pamela) of Oklahoma, Derrick M. James of New Orleans, Lorenzo Allen (Theresa) of Oklahoma; four daughters, Dawn-Dominic Etaje’ (Femi) of New Orleans, Carlita Alexander of Oklahoma, Arnofaye Davis, and Serada Fox of Cottonport; two brothers, Terrance James (Iris Ann) and Richard James (Ruby) both of Tacoma, Washington; sisters-in-law, Joyce James of Mansura, Cora Steptore Ellis of Baton Rouge, Beatrice Steptore Ford (Jessie) and Edna Steptore Carter (Huey) both of New Orleans; brother-in-law, Edward Steptore, Jr. of New Orleans. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and his four God-children, D’Markis Barton, Da’Quan, Tiffany Lewis, and Kendra Clark, and host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Earl James, Sr. & Victoria Duranda James; grandparents, Clifton & Mary Duranda; two brothers, John and Thomas Earl James, Jr.; sister, Theresa James Francisco; four children, Loyd Joseph James, J. Lorris James, Cherie Allen, and Yvette James.

Visitation will begin at 8:00am at the First Congregational Baptist Church of Marksville on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 and last until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the First Congregational Baptist Church of Marksville – 215 Legion Dr. Marksville, LA 71351.
