Melda Fuqua Deloach, age 88, of Effie

Funeral services for Mrs. Melda Fuqua Deloach will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville, LA. with Deacon L.G. Deloach officiating. Burial will be held at French Cemetery in Effie. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.
Mrs. Melda Fuqua Deloach, age 88, of Effie, LA. passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Oak Haven Nursing Center in Center Point, LA. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.
Mrs. Fuqua was a life long resident of Effie, and a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She served the Avoyelles Parish community for many years, holding positions as both Registrar of Voters, and Chief Deputy Registrar of Voters. She was also a co-operator of Deloach’s Conoco in Effie, Secretary at Gulfco Automotive Assurance, and with Central Louisiana Electric Company. She will be truly missed by all who knew her and loved her. Her grace, kindness, and loving smile will never be forgotten.
Mrs. Deloach is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Rayburn Deloach; brothers, J.T. Fuqua, Jr., Gary Fuqua, Larry Fuqua; parents, J.T., Sr. and Selma George Fuqua.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Reginald Deloach (Donna) of Effie, LA; daughters, Pamela Brouillette (Allen) of Effie, LA; Delores Rabalais (Patrick) of Simmesport, LA. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Christopher Deloach, Robin Deloach, Rachel Norris, Emily Rabalais, Allison Dupre, Jennifer Girtman; twelve great grandchildren, Zachary, Riley James, Atticus, Jude, Elizabeth, Esther, Sarah, Sophie, Josie, Amy, Naomi, Blake; and one great great grandchild, Noah.
Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, May 9, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Christopher Deloach, Robin Deloach, Thaddeus Norris, Doug Girtman, Dave Dupre, David Dauzat. Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Rabalais, Allen Brouillette, Allen Deloach, Lynn Deloach, and Tommy Deloach.
The family would like to give special thanks to Cora Fuqua, Pat Deloach, Gerry Hathorn, Oak Haven Nursing Home and staff, and All Saints Hospice for the kindness and dedication shown during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family request to send all contributions to Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home, 904 DeVille Lane, Ruston, LA. 71270 and to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
