Oscar Bergeron, Jr., age 86, of Boyce

FIFTH WARD - Funeral services for Mr. Oscar Bergeron, Jr. will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Wilda Baptist Church in Boyce with Reverend Joey Rudisill officiating. Interment will be at Our Lady of Lourdes #3 Cemetery in Fifth Ward. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Wilda Baptist Church from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume Saturday from 10:30 until funeral service time.
Oscar Bergeron, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Hilltop Nursing Home in Pineville. He was born in Cottonport on November 19, 1931 to Minerva Mayeaux Bergeron and Oscar Bergeron, Sr. Oscar served in the Army during the Korean War, was a self-employed entrepreneur and retired from Community Coffee. He has been an active member of his community churches, including serving as an Ordained Deacon. In recent months, he particularly enjoyed raising his puppy Greta!
Oscar enjoyed spending time with all the numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other members of the treasured Jowers, Bergeron and related families. He was particularly fond of the times with cousin Cora.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Bergeron, Sr. and Minerva M. Turner; infant daughter, Debra Ann Bergeron; beloved wife of 10 wonderful years, Barbara Gaspard Dold Bergeron; and step-son Gregory Dold.
He is survived by his sons, Rick Davis (Kathleen Ellis) Bergeron of Coeur d’alene, Idaho, Michael Alton (Rebecca Perkins) Bergeron of Gardner and Scott Malcom (Ruth Flautt) Bergeron of Baton Rouge; grandchildren Eric Ross Bergeron of Lansing, Michigan, Zachary Scott (fiancé Rachel Omerza) Bergeron of Houston and Hannah Elaine Bergeron of New Orleans; his brother, Gano (Rita Jeansonne) Bergeron of Cottonport; and step-daughters Lilly Ducote, Linda Tassin, Gail Guillot and Karen Paulk.
Special “Thank You” to all the caregivers at Cabrini Hospital, Hilltop Nursing Home and Guardian Hospice Care during the last 6 weeks.
