Pamela Biles Wheeler, 85, Bunkie native

Pamela Biles Wheeler, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Houston, Texas on May 9, 2022, surrounded by her family. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Pamela is survived by her children: Jane Wheeler Leslie of Houston, Joseph Edward Wheeler III of Plano, and Elise Wheeler Roueche of Dallas; sons-in-law: Rob Leslie and Jay Roueche; beloved grandchildren: Jonathan Leslie, Katherine Creasey (Brooks), Caroline Roueche and Jack Roueche; as well as great-granddaughters Sutton and Piper Creasey – who all fondly knew her as “Nannie.” She is also survived by her dearly loved sister Murel Biles Trimble of Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband and love of her life, Joseph E. Wheeler, Jr.

Pamela was born on October 7, 1936 in Barbreck, Louisiana, to William Palmer Biles and Nancy Elise (Milburn) Biles. She enjoyed an idyllic childhood in Bunkie, Louisiana surrounded by her loving family and relatives, and developed deep friendships that lasted a lifetime.

She graduated from Bunkie High School in 1954 and attended Louisiana State University, earning an undergraduate degree in education. She married Joe in 1958. Their early marriage years were spent in La Place, Louisiana. In 1962 they settled in Houston, Texas, where they raised their family at their inviting home. Pamela was first and foremost a loving and caring wife, mother and friend. She also sold real estate in Houston for many years, retiring in 1998. During their retirement years, she and Joe restored his family home in Ball, Louisiana and enjoyed spending much time there and entertaining friends and family. Pamela will be remembered fondly for her caring and hospitable nature, her fun-loving and happy heart, and her steadfast devotion to her family and friends. Pamela enjoyed a high quality of life until her final six months. Though we mourn her passing, we are comforted by her strong faith in God and we trust that she is now at peace. The family wishes to thank mom’s caregivers as well as her compassionate home health and hospice nurses.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Alexandria with Rev. James Ferguson officiating. Pallbearers will be James Milburn, Lloyd Newton, Jr., Edward Parham, Jonathan Leslie, Brooks Creasey and Jack Roueche. Interment will be at Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville under the direction of Hixson Brothers.

Family and friends will be received afterward at the family home in Ball.
