R.H. Roy Deason, 99, of Hessmer

WWII veteran

Services for R.H. (Roy) Deason will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, in the chapel of Kramer of Fifth Ward with Bro. Keith Lamartiniere officiating. Interment will follow at Lamartiniere Cemetery under the direction of Kramer of Fifth Ward.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, and resume from 8:30 AM until the time of service on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the funeral home.
R.H. Roy Deason, 99, of Hessmer, passed away on August 24, 2021, at the VA Hospital in New Orleans.
R.H. is preceded in death by his parents, Rosco and Gertrude Deason; his brothers, Noel Deason, Robert Deason, William Deason, and JW Deason; and his sisters, Carmen Deason, Bonnie Deason Hollard, and Virginia Deason Walding.
R.H. was born on April 6, 1922, in Cherokee County, Texas. Growing up, he helped on his family’s farm until he left home and joined the army to serve in World War II. He served as a Ground Aircraft Observer for the duration of the war. After the war, he was honorably discharged on December 31, 1945. He then went on to work in the oil field industry. He later married his wife, Lillian Lachney Deason, and together they raised a beautiful family while living all around the southern United States, eventually settling in Hessmer, Louisiana.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lillian Lachney Deason; his children, Edward Jarreau and his wife Margaret, of Hessmer; Wayne Deason and his wife Peggy, of Hessmer; Rickey Deason, of Hessmer; and Lisa Wiley and her husband Kevin, of Hessmer; and his 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Travis Deason, Rusty Deason, Jason Jarreau, Kyle Deason, Cody Baker, and Issac Lemoine. Honorary Pallbearers honored to serve will be Travis Deason, Jr., Kayton Brouillette, Ian Deason, Drake Laborde, and Jayden Deason.
