Rose Anne Lemoine Juneau of Cottonport, Louisiana passed away gently on May 11, 2022, in her 88thyear, after a long and courageous battle with sickness. Rose Anne was born on August 7, 1933 in Cottonport, Louisiana and she lived nearly her whole life in Cottonport, devoted to family, friends and her church. She was the eldest of eight children born to Clyston M. Lemoine and Rosemary Broussard Lemoine.
After attending Dominican College in New Orleans where she was a music major and a talented pianist, Rose Anne married Rodney Lucas Juneau, her remarkable husband and companion for 64 years who died a few years ago. She and Bubba raised a beautiful family of five children, all of whom mourn her loss. The children are Barbara Juneau Mixon (Mark) of Bunkie, Lelia Juneau Davis (Johnny) of Baton Rouge, Margaret "Peggy" Juneau of Lake Charles, Patricia "Patty" Juneau Riche (Terry) of Cottonport, and Robert Juneau of Cottonport. Nan was also especially close to her own brothers and sisters, two of whom-- David Maurice Lemoine and Marilyn Lemoine Bordelon-- predeceased her. She is survived by her sisters, Ethel Lemoine Juneau, Elizabeth Shoemaker, Clystine (Tina) Lemoine, and Martha Lemoine, and by her brother Peter John Lemoine, each of whom formed an important part of her life. Though she would never say this, Rose Anne was in fact the benevolent matriarch of the extended Lemoine/Juneau family. Her legacy includes twelve grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 31 nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved as her own.
Throughout her life Rose Anne was an avid reader and she passed on this gift to her children. A lifelong follower of political and national affairs, Nan held a strong belief in social justice, the American constitution, and fairness for all races and creeds. In 1992 she served as a Louisiana delegate to the Democratic Convention in New York which nominated President Clinton.
She will be greatly missed and remembered for her humor, effortless charm, keen wit, sharp intelligence and her compassion for others in need. Rose Anne loved her family and her siblings in a boundless way, and she treated everyone who married into the Lemoine and Juneau families with similar love and respect. She was in so many ways an accomplished, strong woman, and her legacy will be carried forward by countless individuals whose lives she touched.
Her family expresses deep appreciation to those who cared for her during this past year, particularly Breanna James, who they all came to love.
