Yvonne Marie Lavalais, 64, of Alexandria, formerly of Moreauville

Funeral Mass for Yvonne Marie Lavalais will take place at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church of Moreauville on Saturday, February 23, 2019 beginning at 11:00am. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Escude Funeral Home of Moreauville from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45. a.m. Burial will commence at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Moreauville.
Yvonne Marie Lavalais, 64, of Alexandria, Louisiana, formerly of Moreauville, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, after a tragic automobile accident. She was born on January 12, 1955 to the union of James Jeffrey Lavalais and Vinella Florence Lavalais.
Yvonne graduated from Moreauville High in 1973. She later attended Cottonport Trade School where she studied business. She was previously employed at Harvey Shoe Store, Wal-Mart, and Burger King in Marksville, Louisiana. Yvonne was a people person and served as a caregiver to many. She was a very compassionate and jovial person who never met a stranger.
Yvonne was very religious and very devoted to her Catholic Faith. She loved to attend Mass on a daily basis, read the Bible and pray the Rosary. In her spare time, Yvonne enjoyed drawing, baking, and decorating but her passion was sewing. She served as a seamstress and designed clothes for many.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, James Jeffrey Lavalais and Vinella Florence Lavalais; sisters, Celeste C. Lavalais and Melba L. Benjamin; maternal grandparents Albert Andrew Benjamin and Florence Lucille Benjamin; and paternal grandparents, Simon Lavalais and Lessie Lavalais.
Yvonne is survived by her aunt, Colette B. Wright, and her uncle and godfather, Felix (Rosemary) Benjamin of Moreauville, Louisiana. She is also survived by two goddaughters, Kimberlain B. Heath of Moreauville, Louisiana and Danika A. Benjamin of Shreveport, Louisiana; her godmother, Catherine D. Woods of Cottonport, Louisiana; and a host of relatives and friends.
