Simmesport man shoots at Pointe Coupee police

On February 10, 2024 at approximately 2150hrs, a deputy with the Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle on Court Street in New Roads. Subsequently, the passenger of the vehicle fired multiple shots at the officer just before fleeing on foot. At approximately 0100hrs, the suspect, identified as Adam Alexandria Robertson (black male; date of birth 07/25/1991) of Simmesport was taken into custody at his residence. The officer sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital. The officer was released.
Investigators with the Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s Office as well as the New Roads Police Department are investigating the incident.
