100 years and counting! 🎉

Peggy Laborde of Hamburg, center, is surrounded by her four children as she celebrated her 100th birthday Aug. 10. Peggy attributes her longevity to her genes because her mother, Jennie Perkins Nolin, lived to be over 100 years, and her father, Walter Thomas Nolin, lived to be 97 years old.

Peggy was celebrated from Austin, Texas to Baton Rouge, Marksville and Bordelonville. She loved every minute of her month-long celebration and said the best gift she received was all the people who came.

Peggy made history in 1947 as the first woman to graduate with a degree in agronomy from the LSU College of Agriculture. She has continually championed education, agriculture and student success at LSU.
