A Buck Worth the Wait
Seven-year-old Cecilia Musso bags 8-point buck on family land in Avoyelles Parish
At just 7 years old, Cecilia Musso of Plaucheville is already making a hunting memory that many outdoorsmen spend a lifetime hoping to experience.
The young hunter recently harvested an 8-point buck with her crossbow while hunting alongside her father on family property in Avoyelles Parish.
Cecilia, the daughter of Dustin and Mandi Musso and a student at St. Joseph Elementary & High School in Plaucheville, had been practicing with her crossbow since the previous hunting season, preparing for the opportunity to take a buck during this year's hunt. According to a hunting report published by Louisiana Sportsman on Oct. 22, Cecilia and her father had been watching and hunting the same 8-point buck throughout the velvet season.
Although the deer made several appearances, it repeatedly remained just beyond her shooting range. Despite the close encounters, Cecilia continued practicing and waiting for the right opportunity.
That opportunity finally arrived Friday, Oct. 2. Cecilia checked out of school early so she and her father could get into their hunting stand ahead of the afternoon activity. This time, the buck came within range.
With her crossbow ready, Cecilia made a successful shot at approximately 20 yards, bringing an exciting conclusion to a hunt that had required patience and preparation.
The successful harvest marked a memorable accomplishment for the young Plaucheville hunter and another special outdoor experience shared with her father. Cecilia's experience reflects that tradition, showing how patience, practice and time spent in the woods can lead to an unforgettable hunting memory.
Her accomplishment was featured in Louisiana Sportsman's Oct. 22 hunting reports, bringing recognition to another young Avoyelles Parish hunter. With an 8-point buck already to her credit at age 7, Cecilia has an exciting hunting story to carry into future seasons.
