š AAM President Highlights Farmers' Concerns in Holiday Update š
The American Agriculture Movement (AAM) released its Nov. 26 update, highlighting key issues affecting farmers as the year comes to a close.
The update notes that federal discussions on trade assistance for producers continue, but delays in decision-making are creating financial uncertainty for farmers who need support before securing operating loans for the 2026 season.
AAM reported estimated payments for the upcoming Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs. Expected payments per base acre include:
- Rice: 286 dollars
- Peanuts: 197 dollars
- Cotton: 128 dollars
- Corn: 66 dollars
- Grain Sorghum: 50 dollars
- Wheat: 48 dollars
- Soybeans: 22 dollars
These payments are anticipated in October 2026.
USDA has announced plans to purchase 30 million dollars in food for distribution to food banks and nutrition programs nationwide. The update also mentions that County Committee election ballots for local Farm Service Agency offices will be mailed in January and counted in February.
AAM raised concerns about market impacts following recent tariff reductions on Brazil, including:
- Declines in cattle prices
- Upcoming reductions in beef processing capacity due to plant changes in Nebraska and Texas.
The organization also noted a recent bankruptcy filing by Hansen-Mueller Company, which has left farmers in several states with unpaid grain deliveries.
AAM emphasized that farmers and ranchers need to stay aware of national policy decisions that affect grain, cattle and rural economies across the country.
