Precision agriculture summit rescheduled

ALEXANDRIA, La. — The LSU AgCenter will hold its annual Precision Agriculture Summit Feb. 16 near Alexandria.
The event was originally slated for Jan. 17. Winter weather caused it to be rescheduled.
A joint effort of the AgCenter and Fletcher Technical Community College, the summit will take place at the State Evacuation Shelter, 8125 U.S. Highway 71, adjacent to the LSU Alexandria campus.
Admission is free. Organizers request advance online registration at https://forms.office.com/r/9VQL6bgmSD.
Doors will open at 7:30 a.m., and presentations will begin at 8:30 a.m. After a break for a provided lunch, a vendor and exhibitor showcase will be held.

Topics and speakers will include:
— Use of NDVI in precision agriculture by AgCenter soil scientist Brenda Tubaña.
— Using imagery and seasonal production data for cropping decisions by farmer Marshall Hardwick.
— Precision ag visions by Lance Meyer, of Case IH; Tate Strebeck, of Progressive Tractor and Implement; and Michael Reith, of John Deere Thibodaux.
— Drones by Kam Harper, of Macon Ridge Specialty Drone Services; Randy Price, AgCenter engineer; and Tri Setiyono, AgCenter precision agriculture specialist.
— Precision ag programming at LSU by Setiyono.
— Practical application of precision ag technology by Zach Reynolds, of Mississippi State University.
