Alissa Piazza Tassin announces her candidacy for Avoyelles Parish District Court Judge in Division “A.”
With over 15 years of extensive courtroom experience, Alissa brings a broad and well-rounded background to serve as Judge. She began her legal career in 2010 as a law clerk in the 9th Judicial District Court working for a Judge. She later established a successful private practice at Piazza Law Firm, where she has handled a wide range of matters including civil, domestic, criminal, corporate, municipal, and juvenile cases. She has appeared before numerous courts and has tried cases before judges and juries. Her experience representing clients in complex and diverse legal matters has prepared her to serve fairly and effectively on the bench.
As a candidate for District Judge, Alissa is focused on strengthening public safety and improving the administration of justice in Avoyelles Parish. She is committed to making the parish safer and more accommodating to the people. She has developed practical, proven plans based on those she has seen successfully implemented in many other courts where she has represented clients. As District Judge, she will prioritize the organized and efficient management of court proceedings and will work collaboratively with other officials to support initiatives focused on reducing crime and supporting families and victims involved in legal proceedings.
Alissa’s legal experience includes municipal and regional leadership roles. She has served as attorney for the Town of Mansura for the past 12 years and previously served as Cottonport’s town attorney for two years. She has also served as magistrate for the Village of Moreauville. She currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana City Attorneys Association, where she has worked alongside lawmakers on issues impacting Avoyelles communities. She has been an active member of the Avoyelles Parish Bar Association for many years, serving as an officer and as President. In addition, she has consistently supported local charitable and civic organizations and has volunteered and served on the boards of several non-profit organizations.
A lifelong resident of Avoyelles Parish, Alissa has deep roots in the community. She has been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville since childhood. She is a 1998 graduate of Marksville High School. She earned her undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University and later obtained her Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center.
Alissa is married to Jason Tassin of Marksville, and together they have two children, Colton (15) and Elizabeth (11). She understands the importance of strong family values and work ethic, both of which she will bring to the bench if elected. Alissa pledges to faithfully adhere to the judicial canons required of Judges, and to serve as a fair, impartial, and honorable public servant.
