Infant Formula Recall Issued After Toxin Detected

Thousands of tins of infant formula have been voluntarily recalled after testing detected a toxin that could make infants ill according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration

The recall involves three batches of a2 Platinum Premium USA infant formula produced by The a2 Milk Company and intended for babies 12 months and younger

The product may contain cereulide, a toxin linked to Bacillus cereus bacteria Health experts say the toxin is not destroyed during preparation even with hot water and can cause symptoms such as nausea and vomiting within 30 minutes

No illnesses have been reported The affected formula was sold online including through the company’s website Amazon and Meijer stores Of more than 63,000 tins produced about 16,400 were distributed

The recall applies to 31.7-ounce tins with the following batch numbers:

• 2210269454 (use by July 15, 2026)
• 2210324609 (use by Jan. 21, 2027)
• 2210321712 (use by Jan. 15, 2027)
