🎉Avoyelles High Celebrates 100 Years, Collecting Memorabilia for Centennial

Avoyelles High School, formerly known as Moreauville High School, is marking a significant milestone in 2026 as it celebrates 100 years of educating generations of students and serving as a cornerstone of the community.

Founded in 1926, Moreauville High School opened its doors at a time when public education in rural Avoyelles Parish was still developing. The construction of the original brick school building represented a major investment in education and symbolized progress and opportunity for families throughout the area. Over the decades, the school evolved alongside the community, eventually becoming Avoyelles High School, reflecting its broader role in serving students from across the parish while maintaining its deep roots in Moreauville.

As part of the centennial observance, school officials are asking alumni, former staff, families and community members to help preserve the school’s history by contributing memorabilia and historical items.

Items Being Collected

  • Photographs
  • Yearbooks
  • Uniforms
  • Trophies
  • Awards
  • Newspaper clippings
  • Other meaningful keepsakes

Those wishing to contribute items are asked to drop them off at the front office. Individuals who would like their items returned should clearly label them with their name and phone number. The materials will be used to document the school’s history and may be featured in displays, exhibits, or special projects connected to the 100-year celebration.

Plans for specific centennial events and celebrations will be announced at a later date. Alumni and community members are encouraged to stay involved and share their stories as the school prepares to honor this historic milestone.
