Avoyelles Livestock Show Winners of 1980!

The Avoyelles Parish livestock show has long been a showcase of dedication, hard work, and community pride, particularly among the parish’s young exhibitors.
In early 1980, a new generation of participants stepped into the spotlight as fresh faces claimed top honors at the parish show, signaling a strong future for agriculture in Avoyelles Parish.
Coverage published in the Greater Avoyelles Journal on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 1980, noted that new names dominated the awards list, as exhibitors earned Grand Champion titles and other top recognitions across several divisions.
The results reflected the growing strength of parish youth agriculture programs and the continued support of families, leaders, and volunteers who helped make the annual event possible.
As this year’s parish livestock shows approach, the 1980 coverage serves as a reminder that the tradition of youth competition and agricultural excellence has deep roots in Avoyelles Parish, roots that continue to shape generations today.
