π Avoyelles' Own Tammy Tassin Shines in Special Education! π
Avoyelles Parish continues to make its mark on education across Louisiana through the accomplishments of one of its own, Tammy Tassin of Marksville, a veteran educator and advocate for students with disabilities.
A lifelong resident of Avoyelles Parish, Tassin has served in education for more than 25 years in various roles, including classroom teacher, reading specialist and educational diagnostician. She holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Masterβs in Educational Technology, a Reading Specialist certification, and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Special Education Curriculum and Supervision. She is also certified in Educational Leadership and continues to mentor educators across the region.
Tassin currently serves as Child Search Coordinator and Evaluator for the Avoyelles Parish School District, working closely with schools throughout the parish to ensure students receive the services and support they need to succeed. With more than two decades of experience in education, she has earned recognition for her leadership, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to students and families.
In addition to her work within the parish, Tassin has been re-elected as the Region 6 Representative for the Louisiana Educational Diagnostician Association (LA-ED), representing the parishes of Sabine, Vernon, Natchitoches, Winn, Grant, Rapides, LaSalle, and Avoyelles. Through this statewide organization, she collaborates with fellow diagnosticians and educational leaders to promote best practices, professional development, and advocacy for students with exceptionalities.
Tassinβs professional credentials include Nationally Certified Educational Diagnostician (NCED) and National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) distinctionsβtwo of the highest certifications available in the field of education. These credentials reflect her expertise, commitment to maintaining the highest professional standards, and passion for lifelong learning.
Continuing her pursuit of excellence, Tassin is also a doctoral student in the Adult Learning and Development program at Northwestern State University (NSU), where she is advancing her research and leadership in special education and higher education. Recently, she was invited to serve as a stakeholder representative for NSUβs CAEP reaccreditation process, a national review that ensures the universityβs educator preparation programs meet rigorous quality and effectiveness standards.
Through her various roles, Tassin is proud to bring recognition to Avoyelles Parish on both the state and university levels.
βItβs an honor to represent our parish and the many dedicated educators who work tirelessly to make a difference,β she said. βI want people to see that great things are happening in Avoyelles and that our educators are helping shape the future of Louisianaβs schools.β
With a career rooted in service, scholarship, and advocacy, Tammy Tassin continues to demonstrate that Avoyelles Parish educators are leading the way in making a lasting impact across the state.
