The Avoyelles Parish Library is inviting residents to take part in a variety of programs and creative opportunities scheduled for late February 2026, including art workshops, literary discussions and a parish-wide art contest.

Upcoming Activities

Among upcoming activities, the Teen Art Workshop will be held on Monday, Feb. 23, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Bunkie Library (200 Walnut Street), offering young artists a chance to explore creativity in a guided setting.

On Tuesday, Feb. 24, adults are invited to Tales & Ales at Broken Wheel Brewery in Marksville (660 N. Main St.) at 5 p.m. This month’s discussion will center on Recitatif, a short story by Toni Morrison. The program is open to adults only.

Family-friendly programming continues on Saturday, Feb. 28, with Children’s Story Time at the Marksville Library (660 N. Main St.) from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by a Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) One Shot game session at 1 p.m., also at the Marksville branch.

Art Contest

In addition to February programming, the library is currently accepting submissions for “Art From Literature 2026,” a creative contest encouraging artists to interpret literary works through visual art. Entries are being accepted through March 13, with winners to be announced March 21 at 10 a.m.
