Avoyelles Parish School Board to Issue Fall Surplus Stipend

Avoyelles Parish School Board to Issue Fall Surplus Stipend

Announcement
October 21, 2025- Avoyelles Parish School Board employees will soon see an extra
boost in their paychecks. During its October meeting, the Board unanimously
approved a Fall Surplus Stipend for eligible employees, funded through the
2024–2025 General Fund surplus.

Additional Stipends & Funding Source
This stipend comes in addition to both the state-funded stipend and the regular
November sales tax stipend. It’s being made possible through interest earned from
the district’s investments during the previous school year. Distribution is expected to
take place in November 2025.

Stipend Amounts
Under the approved plan, certified employees, those in positions requiring a degree
based on the Teacher Placement Schedule, will receive $3,010, while support staff will
receive $1,505.

Eligibility
To qualify, employees must be actively working full- or part-time for the district
during the 2025–2026 school year and remain employed on the date of distribution.
Substitutes, time sheet employees, board members, and anyone hired after the
October 2025 board meeting are not eligible. Part-time employees hired by the
board will receive prorated amounts according to their schedules.

Proration & Exceptions
Employees who retire or resign before the end of the school year will have their
stipends prorated based on the number of days worked. Any exceptions will be
reviewed by the Superintendent.

Board Leadership Statement
Board Vice President Robin Moreau said he was proud the board could provide this
additional support to employees who continue to go above and beyond for students.
“Our employees really deserve this,” Moreau said. “They’ve worked hard all
year, and we hope they appreciate it. We’re thankful to be in a position to
give a little something back before the holidays.”

Closing
This local stipend serves as more than just a financial incentive; it’s a gesture of
gratitude. The School Board recognizes that every bus driver, teacher, custodian,
cafeteria worker, support staff member, and administrator plays a vital role in the
success of Avoyelles Parish Schools. Their dedication, especially in times of change
and challenge, continues to shape brighter futures for the students they serve. The

Board’s decision reflects its ongoing commitment to honor and invest in the people
who keep our schools strong, welcoming, and thriving.
